Thank you for visiting my page, and for supporting Pedal 4 Prevention. I, Russell Cleveland, plan to embark upon a cross country tour pedaling my way from the Pacific Coast to the Atlantic Coast starting June 1st 2012, in an effort to raise funding for the Alliance For A Healthier Generation. Our united goal, is to take the critical steps needed in raising awareness in fitness and nutrition and implementing the key tools and fundamentals needed to initiate healthier life choices amongst the next generation of our youth to stop the childhood obesity epidimic. 

 

Today nearly 1 in 3 children and youth in the United States is overweight or obese. Overweight kids are more likely to become overweight adults and are at risk for serious health problems. Some experts believe that if obesity among kids continues to increase at this rate, our current generation could become the first in American history to live shorter lives than their parents.

 

Together, we can change this and can build a healthier generation of young people. That is why I have joined the Alliance for a Healthier Generation and am raising funds to end childhood obesity.

 

The goal of the Alliance is to reduce the nationwide prevalence of childhood obesity by 2015, and to empower kids to make healthy lifestyle choices. Founded in 2005 by the American Heart Association and William J. Clinton Foundation, the Alliance works to positively affect the places that can make a difference in a child?s health: homes, schools, doctor?s offices, and communities.

 

Your support matters! Every dollar you provide goes towards supporting my team, "Pedal For Prevention", aimed at partnering with the Alliance to initiate critical programs to end childhood obesity.

Training!
As the weeks are getting closer to June 1st, training continues to intesify! I am currently biking 6-7 days a week, as well as tracking dietary intake to ensure adequate intake!
